About

Vicky Richardson

BA, PGCE, PGDip Nutrition Science and Practice, Nutrition MSc, mBANT, rCNHC

My move into nutritional therapy was inspired by my personal health journey. Learning about nutrition helped relieve the debilitating symptoms affecting my everyday life. With medical practitioners ruling out IBS and IBD, I made careful changes to my diet while maintaining a healthy balance of nutrients. Realising nutrition and mind-set can be incredible tools to regain health, I went a few steps further and studied for a Nutrition Therapy MSc, so that I could help others on their health journeys too. I have found the answers I needed and got my quality of life back, feeling healthier than I have for years, and I would love to help you do that too.

My clients have similar stories of medical tests coming back clear, but persistent symptoms that worry them and affect their quality of life. The huge amount of information out there can seem overwhelming. Check out my client testimonials below to see my clients' transformational results, overcoming gastrointestinal issues for good.

My award winning MSc dissertation was about Mindful Eating, because for me the mind body link is a vital piece in our overall health. I run unique Mindful Dinner events, using the research from my MSc dissertation to craft a relaxing, multi-sensory nutrition experience that nourish body and soul and educates about gut health. With 17 years experience as an educator, and as a proven, inspiring science communicator, I'm also passionate about sharing life changing tools and knowledge in workshops with schools and businesses.

I live in North Yorkshire with my husband, two children and dog. When not working or juggling family life, I love being in nature.  Music is a passionate hobby of mine. I incorporate Tibetan Singing Bowls into my music, my meditative practice and in wellbeing workshops and retreats.

Happy, healthy clients

Vicky is a kind, insightful and positive practitioner. She is very open minded and caring, and made me feel really at ease in sharing my personal journey and struggles with food.  With her guidance and support, I had a plan of action which gave me the confidence to make better choices. Plus she gave me lots of tips and advice, but she was never overwhelming or too prescriptive. We went at a pace that suited me and as a result I have a far better relationship with food, I eat much more mindfully and feel the best I have for years. I can't recommend Vicky enough!

I cannot recommend Vicky enough, she not only has a great depth of  knowledge on a multitude of aspects on nutrition and general well-being, but is super easy to work with.  As someone who trains 5-6 times a week in the gym, and an ex-chef, I have always been interested in food, nutrition, and supporting my body is a key priority for me. With Vicky’s help, I have not only got a far superior diet, but it helped me achieve better results in the gym, and learn so much more about food.

I had an unhealthy relationship with food for many years and after getting healthy in all other aspects of life, I decided it was time to really work on my gut health. That’s when I started working with Vicky. The process of working with her has been incredibly illuminating. She has helped me understand, through clear and supportive guidance, how important a balanced and nutritious diet is but more so, how my relationship with food is because of something way deeper routed than simply ‘I must eat some Nutella’! Critically for me, she has helped to identify and focus on the underlying issues I’ve been having with my gut.

I cannot recommend Vicky enough, she is professional, kind and most importantly relates to what’s going on with me. Working with Vicky is clearly not her regurgitating from a textbook but based on her own experiences and personal journey. For me, this has made the process much more personal and relatable.

I contracted Covid 19 in February 2021 and after returning to work I found that I was struggling with what I now know to be Long Covid symptoms. I took some time in July to try to rest and recover. However despite my efforts by September I was still struggling. This was when I decided to get in touch with Vicky. I was desperate and knew that due to fatigue my diet had not been great for some months. I needed something to get me back on track. I will be honest, as a vegetarian, my diet has not always been consistent/good.

I knew from the first session with Vicky that I had made the right decision. Vicky was incredibly supportive and her warmth made me feel that I could definitely do this. The session was gentle and Vicky was able to get me to talk about my life experiences that could be impacting on me and my recovery. Immediately after that first session, I felt that I could  reclaim the body that I felt was letting me down.

Vicky used the results of blood tests to find out which nutrients I needed (and there were a lot!). I started taking supplements to address this whilst at the same time keeping a food diary. I did begin to feel better relatively quickly and also began to meditate and do yoga to support my recovery.

Vicky spoke to me about my diet and gently, and without any judgment offered me advice on how I could improve this. There was never a hint of judgement and this is really important to me. This is very much who Vicky is; she does not judge but offers support. The sessions with her made me really think about what I was eating (or not in my case) and I changed how I felt about and approached food.

Despite my fatigue, I knew that I had to take the time to focus on what I was eating and to ensure that I had a nutritious and balanced diet no matter what else was going on in my life. The time with Vicky has quite literally changed my life. I am still struggling with Long Covid but everyday I do feel a little better and I will be honest that when I do slip with regard to nutrition, I can feel the impact. I am much more in tune with my body than I have been and I actually take the time to listen to what it is telling me.

After being a carer for my husband for twenty years I wanted an overview of my nutrition in order to address certain ailments and to optimise my health. I have rarely met a healthcare professional as meticulous in her approach and in compiling her report, and as generous with her time as Vicky.

Based on a 7-day food diary I provided Vicky with, she painstakingly analysed each item in my entire diet on a scientific basis, in order to form a fully comprehensive, personalised  and practical report, which addressed all my nutritional goals.

Any concerns or queries  I raised over the weeks were promptly dealt with in a detailed, sensitive and constructive manner. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Vicky's enthusiasm and energetic approach to nutrition is inspiring and she's a delight to work with. My experience exceeded all my expectations and I couldn't recommend her more
